Health care delivery in a correctional setting is challenging and rewarding. It offers fulfilling opportunities for health care providers to sharpen their clinical skills, utilize cutting-edge technology, and actively manage patients, free from many of the bureaucratic processes found in traditional health care settings.

Qualifications & Responsibilities:

Provide direction and leadership for the medical program in collaboration with the Health Services Administrator.

Provide a variety of professional medical services to inmates to include administering examinations, diagnosing medical and other problems, prescribing medications and providing treatment and follow-up care.

Provide direction and leadership for the medical program in collaboration with the Health Services Administrator.

Monitor and review operations and standards of care delivered to inmates.

Make clinic rounds

Participate in treatment team meetings where individual health plans of inmates are devised, reviewed and altered.

Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses.

Accept on-call status.

Successful candidate must have an active medical license in the state of Georgia.  Family Medicine, General Medicine or Emergency Medicine background preferred.  Must have an active DEA license

Compensation: $250,000 - $300,000/yr

About the Facility:

Stewart Detention Center is located in Lumpkin, GA. It houses approximately 1750 male ICE inmates.  It is approximately 40 miles south of Columbus, GA and 160 miles north of  Panama City, FL. 

The facility has a 24-hour nursing staff, dental staff and mental health staff.
